We are mindful of the growing concerns of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 in the news and in our community and want to be sure we all stay safe.
At this time, both the March 11 English meeting with the Pre-Dante Pasta Dinner and the March 25 Italian meeting will continue as planned.
We understand this is a developing situation, and as such our policy will be responsive and in-line with the recommendations of Washington State and King County Public Health departments.
While public health officials have not recommended any restrictions on group gatherings, they do recommend that vulnerable populations avoid crowded settings. Persons who are older or who have underlying health conditions are at higher risk to develop complications from this virus.
If you are sick, we thank you for staying home from Dante meetings.
In an effort to keep our food safe, please be sure to bring serving implements for any antipasti/dolci you provide for the meetings --- please avoid finger-foods for now!

THE NEXT ENGLISH MEETING of the 2020 DAS PROGRAM YEAR
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11 at St. Patrick's Church - Social Hall, 815 E Edgar Street, Seattle
The speaker at this month's English Language meeting will be Pat Hoffman, a Dante member and frequent traveler to Italy. Her topic will be: Seated at Lorenzo’s Table – From Farm to Table.
Pat grew up on the east coast and had a long career in immunological research at both for-profit and non-profit institutions. After a year of retirement, she started a 2nd career as a part-time paralegal for a small law firm and is now working part-part-time, giving her more time to travel. Pat is a Dante member whose passion for Italy was ignited in 2002 when her daughter, Kelcey, moved to Italy to work in Rome. Eighteen years and numerous visits later, the desire to discover the beauty of Italy’s diverse regions is still strong and the love of the art, food, wine and people continues to grow and satisfy. She is delighted that she is able to have conversations with “la gente” using her modest command of the Italian language.
The presentation will focus on her last trip to Italy - a "culinary adventure" with FarmerChef Lorenzo Polegri who owns Ristorante Zeppelin in the enchanting Umbrian town of Orvieto, Italy. Pat will recount, in words and pictures, her 'excellent adventure' - two weeks with Chef Lorenzo - and five friends - immersed in the history and culinary experiences of the FarmerChef.
Chef Lorenzo has been Invited several times to cook at the James Beard house in NYC. He also cooked for President Obama at the White House in 2010. But his home is Ristorante Zeppelin, which is the venue for Chef Lorenzo’s internship program for culinary students and his cooking school. It features afternoon cooking classes and one-week and two-week “culinary adventures” will cooking classes and visits to the sources that produce the ingredients used in Chef Lorenzo’s recipes.
Be sure to come and tickle your taste buds for Italian food.
