March 12 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

When:  March 12, 2025

Speaker: Richard Kinssies, Wine Outlet

Topic:  An introduction to the wines of Italy.

Presentation:  Richard Kinssies, owner of Wine Outlet on Elliot Ave and wine educator, will present an introduction to the wines of Italy along with a tasting. He will lead the class by way of a general overview of the country and how it is divided (and united) by culture, cuisine, climate and economy and how that affects the wines produced there. Also covered will be how the wine laws work and how they can help when choosing a wine!

About the Speaker:  Over the course of his career, Richard Kinssies has worked as a sommelier, owned a wine bar, a restaurant, made wine for his own label, written books on wine and food and hosted two radio shows. He has also worked as a journalist with his work featured in national and local publications including a weekly column in the Seattle P.I. He has taught French wine to the U.S. wine trade for the French government, created the first wine curriculum for Washington’s community college system and taught at the Seattle Central campus for several years. His Seattle Wine School has been educating the wine trade and consumers for more than two decades. The school now resides at the Wine Outlet, his retail wine shop in Seattle.
