Italian Classes Resume October 5
by Giuseppe Tassone
The 37th school year of the Italian Language Program at the Dante Alighieri Society of Washington resumes on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.There is not a better time to start or advance your learning in our Italian language program.
Fall quarter is the time when students with no or little knowledge of Italian must enroll in order to start from the beginning.
Returning students may enroll in one of the other levels: A2, B1 or B2 or in the advanced conversational course for students who have completed level B2. Students with proficiency above the beginning level, who have not taken classes with us are very welcome to join our program at the level that they think appropriate. If you are uncertain of your level, please don’t hesitate to contact the director Giuseppe Tassone for guidance to be placed in the appropriate level.
Beginning this fall quarter, the Dante Alighieri Society of Washington is introducing Canvas by Instructure, the leading learning management system used worldwide by the most prestigious institutions, into its courses. Canvas enables teachers and students to create an engaging learning environment that enhances teacher-student interaction and students’ learning experience both in real-time and self-paced. RegistrationRegistrtraion is open until September 24.

THE DANTE ALIGHIERI SOCIETY
OF WASHINGTON
RETURNS TO LIVE EVENTS!
As you can see, Mr. Dante is keeping some very questionable company
while he waits to return to our meetings!
Well, his wait is not much longer. With state-wide reopenings and vaccinations, we plan to return to our pre-covid format of live meetings, shared meals or antipasti, and great presentations. All fully vaccinated Dante members and (also fully vaxed) guests will be welcome at the live meetings. For those not yet vaccinated or living outside the area, there will be some exciting collaborative programs presented on Zoom this season.
We have a new home. St. Clement’s Church, 1501 32nd Ave S., Seattle 98144, has opened its doors to us for our full season. We will have accommodations there similar to those at Garden House – an equipped kitchen, social hall for dining, a small parking lot with additional free street parking, and a lovely sanctuary for the presentations. There is an accessible ramp entry to the lower level and lift-elevator to the sanctuary. The church is just south of I-90 in the Mount Baker neighborhood. The Clergy and staff are happy to be our new hosts!
Our season program and dates will be sent out in late August, but until then, save September 8 as our first English meeting and the grand return to being together again.
Stay well and hope to see you all soon!
