Topic:  The ‘Tarantella’ – accompanied by a demonstration

Presentation:

Kate will be doing an overview of tarantelle of different regions of the south, looking at the locations that they come from, their history and social relevance as well as watch some short video clips of musicians and dances, and then we will practice the main beat and steps!

About the Speaker:

Kate is a dancer, teacher, and historian of Italian folk dancing. She is from Seattle, Washington and since 2018 has been chasing musica popolare traditions from Puglia, the homeland of her paternal grandmother’s family.

All in-person meetings take place on Wednesday evenings at St.Clement’s Episcopal Church on 1501 32nd Avenue South, Seattle 98144 (unless otherwise specified). Doors open at 6:00pm with presentations at 7:30.

RSVPs are requested for English meetings where dinner is served ($8/person). Italian meetings are preceded by potluck antipasti.

Winter programs (January & February) are held virtually on Zoom. Zoom-room opens at 7:00pm with presentations taking place at 7:30pm. All programs subject to change.
